Medical nurses are responsible for the overall care and well-being of patients. There are different types of nursing assistants who manage the daily care of patients, administrative tasks, and assist in medical procedures. Nursing assistants are an essential part of any healthcare facility. They provide basic care, help patients in daily activities, ensure the patient feels comfortable and monitor the patient’s condition. If you plan to enter the healthcare industry, it is essential to enroll in the best medical training school in New York for comprehensive guidance for becoming a CNA, LPN, or RN. But before that, it is best to know the different kinds of nurses and career options available for aspiring candidates.

Following are the three types of nursing positions and career prospect of each career option:

Certified nursing assistants (CNA) are primarily involved in direct primary care and patient wellbeing. They assist patients in their daily activities including, bathing, changing clothes, eating, housekeeping, and other jobs that patients need help with. CNA mostly work in nursing houses and long-term health care facilities. Their responsibilities may vary as per patient requirements. Becoming a CNA is the first step for advancing your career as a higher level Licensed and Registered nurse.

  • Licensed Practical Nurse

After working as a CNA and acquiring the required years of experience, candidates can advance their career into a licensed practical nurse (LPN). The LPNs are mostly involved in the healthcare administration tasks. They also assist in direct medical care tasks such as changing bandages, inserting catheters, issuing IV medications, taking blood for testing, etc. Candidates need to complete an accredited program and qualify for the licensing exam administered by the state to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

  • Registered Nurse

It can take 2 to 4 years to complete the Registered Nurse (RN) certification program to become a Registered Nurse. Registered Nurses are highly educated and perform extensive responsibilities when directly treating patients. They are responsible for creating a patient care plan, assisting with diagnosis, monitoring patient’s recovery, and educating patients regarding various medical procedures as required.
